Lonesome Road: my personal journey through the Blues

"My fans and friends have been asking me to release a new album for a long time. My last two acoustic albums, where I have recorded my personal rendition of some of the greatest blues classics, have encountered lot of success and praise. But it was time to please my fans, all I needed was a new inspiration.

And it came when I stumbled upon a book written in the sixties by two Italian authors: “Antologia dei poeti neri d’america” – an anthology of African-American poetry, a collection of the most beautiful and heartbreaking poems written by some of the most famous Afro-American poets. Not only: it gathers together a wide variety of traditional blues lyrics and poems which I had never read before.

I then decided to give those lyrics a new life, matching them with my original music, riffs and melodies that I had composed during the last years. In this way I thought I could bring back to life stories and characters got lost in time.

To achieve this outcome I decided to sum up my whole long musical journey, trying to find the best match between the lyrics I chose from the book and the music I was writing.

“Lonesome Road” is the answer to all of this. Stories of love, betrayal, suffering, discrimination, loneliness but also of joy and freedom: this is what the Blues is all about and this is what I want to merge with my biggest musical influences that you can find on my previous records: from the early Chicago Blues to the full-blooded Texas blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan, from the magic atmospheres of Jimi Hendrix to the sweet ballads of Bob Dylan."
